Associate ProfessorIn my area of expertise, I focus on plastics (polymers). I engage in producing plastics, evaluating their properties, and studying their decomposition. In my current research, I am working towards the realization of a recycling system that transforms post-consumer plastics into plant fertilizers. By effectively utilizing waste plastics as fertilizers, we can achieve efficient resource recycling. Moreover, fertilizers synthesized from waste plastics have the potential to address the food crisis associated with the world's population growth. Inspired by the concept of "making bread from plastic" depicted in the TV anime series Future Boy Conan (directed by Hayao Miyazaki, 1978), I aim to develop a novel technology that can bring this dream to reality.

Associate ProfessorI am engaged in synthesizing and functionalizing nanomaterials, using nanospaces and interfaces for molecular control. In particular, I work with nanocarbons such as graphene and carbon nanotubes to discover new molecular control mechanisms and achieve high thermocatalytic activity through the creation of nano-sized catalysts. In addition, I am investigating the behavior of molecules at interfaces using computational chemistry techniques.
Recent Topics of Interests: Interfacial behavior of graphene, Catalyst for CO2 reduction
