The epigenome, which involves modifications to the genome, changes due to environmental factors and stress such as aging, infection, and inflammation in somewhat defined manners, resulting in cell fate alteration. Exploring and harnessing the accumulated epigenomic aberrations is a crucial step in elucidating cancer and developing novel cancer treatments.
