Associate ProfessorEven within an adult individual, proteins undergo a continuous cycle of synthesis and degradation, maintaining a clean internal environment through constant metabolism.
However, the accumulation of misfolded proteins leads to aging and neurological diseases.
My goal is to elucidate how the cleaning system removes waste proteins and keeps the internal environment clean.

Assistant Professor My research focuses on elucidating the physiological effects of the natural environment and natural stimuli on humans.
By measuring brain activity (using near-infrared spectroscopy to assess prefrontal cortex activity), autonomic nervous activity (evaluating parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous activity through heart rate variability), and endocrine activity (monitoring stress hormone concentration), we are accumulating scientific data on the physiological relaxation effects that nature brings.

1. Clarification of individual differences: There are individual differences in the physiological relaxation effects that nature brings. These individual differences have drawn attention as an issue that should be clarified in various fields, but research has not progressed significantly.
We are working towards understanding these individual differences by accumulating scientific evidence, including various approach methods.
2. Application to individuals with high stress: In previous research, the main focus has been on healthy individuals in their twenties. However, we are now advancing the investigation of the effects on individuals who experience high-stress levels in their daily lives, such as children with developmental disabilities and patients with depression.

Lecturer / Clinical Associate ProfessorI am currently conducting research aimed at unraveling the pathogenesis of uterine fibroids. Through animal experiments, I have successfully demonstrated that the simultaneous presence of sex steroid hormones, estrogen and progesterone, secreted by the ovaries, is essential for the enlargement of uterine fibroids. Furthermore, I have elucidated the mechanism by which uterine fibroids develop and expand under conditions of hypoxia.
Moving forward, my research will focus on the development of novel treatments for uterine fibroids.

ProfessorMy research interest in analyzing lipid peroxides and drug poisons was sparked by my involvement in detecting sarin metabolites from the victims of the Tokyo subway sarin attack in 1995. Furthermore, I have been at the forefront of introducing postmortem imaging diagnosis with CT in forensic medicine in Japan. Additionally, I have conducted extensive research on death investigation systems and postmortem imaging examinations.

How to prevent similar accidents, suicides, abuse, and other unnatural deaths by utilizing the information obtained from death investigations (such as child death review).
How to establish a system and a mechanism for accurately determining the cause of death by appropriately utilizing various examinations such as postmortem imaging, autopsy, and drug testing.
