ProfessorI am conducting research on the ‘therapeutic benefits of plants’ such as horticultural therapy, aromatherapy, and forest therapy. Additionally, I’m investigating the ‘greening of medical and welfare facilities,’ including hospitals and elderly care facilities, where these practices are implemented. Furthermore, I am researching ‘community care through greenery,’ aiming to utilize green spaces such as local parks for the health of residents.
Recent Topics of Interests:
Exploring the healing effects of ancient Japanese practices like flower arrangement and tea ceremony.
Cultivating parks featuring flowerbeds that visitors can freely enjoy picking.
Transforming urban green spaces into functional work environments.
Designing the landscape that makes food taste better.
Introducing the concept of ‘delivery gardening.’
Motto in Research or in Life:
There will always be challenging times both in research and in life. Yet, I have come to see them positively, as steps toward progress.
Hobby / Holiday:
Watching movies on a big screen in a movie theater rather than on a TV or computer.

ProfessorMy research interest in analyzing lipid peroxides and drug poisons was sparked by my involvement in detecting sarin metabolites from the victims of the Tokyo subway sarin attack in 1995. Furthermore, I have been at the forefront of introducing postmortem imaging diagnosis with CT in forensic medicine in Japan. Additionally, I have conducted extensive research on death investigation systems and postmortem imaging examinations.
Recent Topics of Interests:
How to prevent similar accidents, suicides, abuse, and other unnatural deaths by utilizing the information obtained from death investigations (such as child death review).
How to establish a system and a mechanism for accurately determining the cause of death by appropriately utilizing various examinations such as postmortem imaging, autopsy, and drug testing.
Motto in Research or in Life:
Do right, have fun, and make friends.

LecturerThe causes of allergic diseases and autoimmune diseases remain unknown, and these diseases are incurable. My goal is to create a future where these diseases can be effectively 'cured' through multifaceted approaches. Specifically, I focus on elucidating (1) the mechanisms that induce and maintain Th2 cell differentiation in the body, (2) the role of autoantibodies, and (3) tissue-specific immune responses in autoimmune diseases.
Recent Topics of Interests:
1. Mechanisms of spontaneous remission in allergic diseases
2. The role of autoantibodies in autoimmune diseases
3. Action mechanism of the placebo effect

Associate ProfessorSpecializing in Biogeosciences, my research revolves around the theme of “environmental and biotic changes throughout the Phanerozoic, and their interactions.” While my primary focus lies in geological and paleontological approaches, I have newly expanded biological investigations after joining Chiba University. Recognizing that strata and fossils are the products of past environmental changes and biological activities, I have embarked on modern environmental and biological studies encompassing these geological remnants, current processes, and extant organisms.
Recent Topics of Interest: Understanding the characteristics of information potentially preserved in strata and fossils, Exploring the heterogeneity of information recorded in sediments and organisms, etc.
Research motto: If you’re interested, let’s give it a try. Always remain mindful of your uniqueness and originality.
Life motto: Embrace the unwavering belief that “it will work out.” Cherish what lies before you.
Hobby / Holiday: Baseball, Sumo, Cars (I just like them, not playing). The happiest time on my days off is spending time with my family.

ProfessorI conduct research to identify beneficial catalytic effects utilizing solid surfaces and investigate the underlying mechanism with the latest analytical methods. Chemical reactions consist of complex elementary processes. By elucidating the reaction pathway of catalytic processes occurring at the surface, our goal is to develop excellent catalysts that can contribute to a sustainable society.
Recent Topics of Interest: Photocatalytic conversion of CO2 into fuels, Photocatalytic conversion of CO2 into resources
