ProfessorI am researching machining technology, which aims to shape materials into desired forms and constantly evolve.
For example, advancements in smartphone performance and shatter-resistant displays are the results of developments in processing technology.
In particular, I am working on processing hard and brittle materials such as glass using lasers.

Associate ProfessorI am engaged in the development of solubility-enhanced pharmaceutical formulations, including amorphous solid dispersions and cyclodextrin inclusion complexes, as well as drug-loaded nanoparticle formulations such as liposomes, Pickering emulsions, and polymer micelles. I also focus on establishing and applying methods to evaluate their physical and structural properties.
In recent years, my research has employed a wide range of analytical and computational techniques, including cryo-TEM, small-angle X-ray and neutron scattering (SAXS/SANS), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and molecular simulations.
Recent Topics of Interest:
Improving the solubility of medium-molecular drugs

Associate ProfessorWhat do we mean by 'responsible' and what are the 'mechanisms' for generating research and innovation in a responsible manner, if sustainable mechanisms for developing and embedding responsible research and innovation can be developed? My research aims to find ways to make them happen, especially in the field of biomedicine/life sciences in Japan.
Recent Topics of Interests:
A particular focus at present is the design of sustainable mechanisms for the development and fostering of responsible research and innovation in Japan. Two aspects of particular emphasis are:
1) From 'research integrity' and 'research ethics' perspective, focusing on the systems, mechanisms and education that are appropriate and lead to excellent research for both researchers and society, and
2) From the perspective of the concept and concrete ways of patient & public involvement in research, which serves as one of the mechanisms enabling responsible research and innovation, it is essential to explore how these practices can be embedded in the culture of the research community. This entails establishing a mechanism that is appropriately integrated into the culture of the research community.

Professor / Vice DirectorI aim to advance medical care by elucidating, from a neural circuit perspective, how the ‘anxiety' that we all experience influences the mind and how eating disorders affect brain function. I also investigate the brain characteristics of individuals prone to anxiety or eating disorders and examine how treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy can alleviate brain dysfunction.
Recent Topics of Interest:
Neuroimaging research on anxiety and eating disorders, along with the development of resilience education programs based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)

ProfessorTo address the social challenge posed by a rapidly declining workforce, my research focuses on automating traditional construction techniques through robotic systems. At the core of my research is the concept of ‘Artificial Craftsmanship,’—an idea analogous to ‘Artificial Intelligence.’
Recent Topics of Interests:
Reproducing human craftsmanship with robots. Formalizing individual skills for automation.
Motto in Research or in Life: Take action first, then think it through.

Assistant ProfessorI aspire to become a physician-scientist who integrates clinical expertise, such as joint replacement surgery, with basic research in chronic inflammation and immunology. My research focuses on conditions including hip and knee osteoarthritis, osteonecrosis of femoral head, and rheumatoid arthritis. Specifically, I aim to elucidate the role of the immune system in osteoarthritis and translate this knowledge into a better understanding and improved treatment of the disease.
Recent Topics of Interest:
Elucidating the immunopathogenesis of osteoarthritis

Associate ProfessorI explore the diverse structures of algebraic linear differential equations through geometric, algebraic, and combinatorial lenses, employing representation theory methods.
While traditionally rooted in differential and integral calculus, I elucidate the unique characteristics of each equation by creating ‘figures’ and ‘diagrams.’ These figures offer insights into the multifaceted nature of differential equations.
Recent Topics of Interests:
My interest lies in the deformation theory for singularities of differential equations, exploring the correlation between the geometric structure of their moduli spaces and their representation theoretic interpretation.

ProfessorI am conducting research to elucidate the real surface structure of the electrodes involved in triggering electrocatalytic reactions at both the molecular and atomic levels.
Based on the insights gained from this investigation, my goal is to establish design principles for practical catalysts. These guidelines will facilitate the development of fuel cells and the initiation of water electrolysis processes targeted at hydrogen production.

Associate ProfessorAlthough childhood cancers often involve little DNA damage, certain factors are known to drive tumor development. One such factor is "abnormal transcriptional regulation," which is increasingly believed to be linked to "epigenetic abnormality." Focusing on childhood leukemia models, I aim to develop novel drug targets through functional analysis of epigenetic factors that control cell proliferation.
Recent Topics of Interests:
The initiation of transcription can be compared to a track race, "Ready," "Set," and "Go." My research revealed that the disease-related proteins I study are involved in the "Set" phase, forming a complex and dynamic interaction network. I am currently working to functionally validate this network and explore ways to therapeutically intervene.
