Graduate School of Science / Center for Environmental Remote Sensing / Research Institute of Disaster Medicine, Chiba University
Vice President / Professor / Center DirectorI conduct research using Earth observation big data—such as ionospheric and geomagnetic data—to detect and visualize early-stage anomalies associated with earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic activity from an aerial perspective. Through data-driven analysis, my goal is to identify precursory signals and develop a new concept of ‘geo-weather forecasting’ that contributes to disaster prevention and mitigation.
Recent Topics of Interest:
・Mitigation of geohazards (earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, and others) and understanding their preparatory processes
・Visualization and short-term forecasting of invisible risks
・The potential of a Tokyo metropolitan earthquake, a Tonankai earthquake, and an eruption of Mount Fuji
Motto in Research or in Life:
Conducting research that is beneficial to society/Perseverance
Hobby / Holiday:
Collecting objects —often described by my family as ‘junk’ or ‘useless.’
