Assistant ProfessorI investigate the generation of classical and quantum states of various light fields with exotic characteristics that interact with novel materials and matter. I use ultrafast lasers with controlled spatial and temporal dynamics to generate high-order harmonics in various media, including gases, solids, and liquids, producing a wide range of photon energies from the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) to the soft X-ray regime via high-intensity nonlinear light-matter interactions driven by structured laser fields. Further, I use these extreme coherent structured light sources for spectroscopy, imaging, and metrology applications. I extend this study to shape attosecond pulses via phase-matched high-harmonic generation with structured light, which we believe will significantly advance attosecond science and broaden its applications. Furthermore, I am developing high-quality beam-shaping technology, including high-laser-damage-threshold diffractive optical elements and specially designed flat optics that meet the needs of scientific and industrial applications.
